I am glad you found my Rhode Island posting to a question helpful. Often times there is much more that comes into play than answering a question with any degree of certainty in Rhode Island family law matters. I'm sure the same is true in many jurisdictions. The law is always changing and the power afforded the family court and it's judges and magistrates in Rhode Island may not be the same as the power afforded them in other jurisdictions.

I hope in some small way that the posting leads you to the correct answer that you and your family member are looking for. It's always best to contact an experienced and licensed professional who focuses in this area of practice in the state for the law that is going to be applied to get the best answer. My very best of luck to you in your family law situations.

Fix Marriage

I live in Florida, however, I have friends living in RI who are divorced with 2 children. The mom has physical custody and is thinking of moving to MA, although just a bit further than the above couple.

I am glad I saw this site as I'll be forwarding it to her.

Great advice on placing the benefits of moving for the children down in writing.
